Claudine Gay stumbles as Harvard's first black president over anti-Semitism and plagiarism

The fall of Claudine Gay, Harvard's first black president, is a painful reminder of how the elite shoot themselves in the foot. First there was the controversy surrounding her lax stance on anti-Semitism on campus. Then the allegations of plagiarism. Although an investigation found no fraud writes the Volkskrant, it was clear: Gay was a puppet of political correctness, losing herself in the delusion of the day.

Her demise is proof that Harvard, once a beacon of academic excellence and moral integrity, has degenerated into a hotbed of leftist ideology and double standards. It is indicative of the degradation of the academic climate in the Western world, where quality has been subordinated to political correctness. Gay's departure is more than a personal failure; it is a symbol of the deterioration of an institution that once led the world in teaching and research.

This saga demonstrates how academia has become a playing field for leftist agitators who are oblivious to academic integrity and the protection of democratic values. Gay's presidency was doomed from the start, caught in a web of political games and ideological warfare.

Gay's departure should be a wake-up call for Harvard and similar institutions. It is time to return to the fundamentals: academic excellence, integrity and an unwavering commitment to truth. The university must break free from the grip of political correctness and refocus on its primary mission: educating the next generation of leaders, scholars and thinkers. This does not include anti-Semitism.

Only then can Harvard - and by extension the entire academic world - honor its illustrious past and forge a future rooted in truth, integrity and academic freedom. Gay's departure is a lesson in humility for those who believe the university is a playing field for their political agendas. It is time for a new beginning, with leaders who have the courage to free academia from the shackles of political correctness and ideological error. One must deal harshly with woke and anti-Semitism on campus.
